The examinacion of John Short taken the 26th of ffebruary 1641
<Y> Who by vertue of his oath taken vpon the holie evangelist saith That about the last daie of November last past, one Anthonie mc Donell & one of the Countie of wickloe & on Scurlocke of Rathcreeden nere Rathcoole, came with their companies (beinge both Called by the name of Captaines) to take & surprise the towne of the Naase in the Countie of Kildare, of which Captaines Nicholas Sutton of Tipper in the said County is Collonell, at which tyme the examinate was robbed & dispossed of the goods & estate as followeth, That is to saie, in leases buildings & tenements in the said towne of the Naasse <Z> to the value of thirtie pounds and vpwards, and in gold rings plate, woolle and houshold stuffe and bookes to the value of foure score & nyne pounds at the least.) Part of which said goods & housholdstuffe were at the tyme aforesaid taken awaie by the said Captaines & their Companie, & the residue this examinate left in the Custodie of on John Aishe of the Naasse aforesaid, which he is never like to receave or recover againe.
