The examjnation of Lieutenant Michael Dun aged 24 yeares or thereabouts taken before the right honorable James Earle of Roscomon and Sir James Ware Knight etc vppon oath ministered by the Clerk of the Councell (by direccion of the right honorable the Lord Lieutenant & Councell) the 14 day of June 1644
<L> The said Lieutenant Michael Dun beeing duly sworne and examjned saith that before the cessation of armes and since, the Scottish forces in the province of Vlster, have taken on a number of Irish and papists, that had formerly been of the Irish partie, in armes against his majestie for recruiting of their Companies, and the examinant hath heard that many of those of that kinde soe taken on have been sent into Scotlande, And hee <m> saith that the said Irish and papists are provided for out of the stores there (aswell those provisions that came out of Scotland as those that came from the Lowe=Cuntries to Carrigfergus) as the rest of the Army that come out of Scotland are, Hee saith also that it is generally reported amongst the officers and others of the Scottish Army in Vlster that

<n> that they have a partie in Dublin and Drogheda and the officers give out that theyr first marche wilbee to Dublin, And hee saith that hee verily beleeveth that since the first coming of the ten Regiments out of Scotland into Vlster, the said there have been taken on into the said Regiments, of Irish that have been sent into Scotland, and remain stil amongst the Scottish forces in Vlster to the number of betweene three and fowre thowsand men,
