The examinacion of Phelim Poole of Rostiduffe in the Com of Wickloe taken before us Sir Ri. Bolton Knight Lord Chancellor of Ireland and Sir Gerrard Lowther knight &c the second day of November 1641
This examinant saith that Coronell Hugh Birne younger sonne <A> to ffea Phelim mc ffeagh Birne beinge to Raise a Regiment for the Kinge of Spaines service agreed with this Examinant to bee one of his Captaines and to raise a Companie, and havinge prepared about threescore in number and haveinge noe money to giue them pay came downe to Dublin to speake with his said Coronell to demand money of him for the Conduct of his Companie, and to knowe the <B> place of their Randevowe and tyme of their meetinge and when they should goe away, And saith that on Thursday was seunight hee tooke his Journey from Tynehuish neere Cutshaghmore in Emale in the Com of Wickloe havinge onlie in his Companie his footeboy Robert Butler and came from thence to the Redd Lyon neere the three Castles in the Com of Wickloe a foresaid where hee mett with his vncle Derby Toole of Knockinderra in the Com of Wickloe aforesaid whoe had only in his <C> Company his footeman named Owny Duffe and thence hee and his vncle with their footeboyes came to Dublin about Sunne sett that Eveninge and that Lodged that night at the Widdowe Cullens howse in Castlestreete and the next day beinge ffriday hee imploied himself

<D> enquireinge for his Coronell the said Hugh Byrne but Could not finde him or heare any thing of him, And on Saturday walked vp and downe the streete all day, And on Sunday about Tenn of the Clocke in the forenoone was apprehended by the sheriffe and Carryed to the Castle of Dublin,
