The examination of ffrancis mc Murrogho of Dundalke aged 13 yeares taken before vs Sir Sa: Mayart knight & Hugh Cressy esquire this 8th of Nou: 1641 Dermot mc aboy sworne to interprete truly
<X> Who saith that he hath dwelt with Sir Christopher Bedlow this 12 month last past & that his said master sent him to the fryers of Dundalke but the names of any of them he doth not remember but only one of them is called Edmund mc Kernan who sent this examinant with letters to the fryers beinge in the towne of the County of Kildare & that he deliuered to Anthony mcgohegan one of the fryers of Kildare one these letters which was al he carryed with him thether & that he brought one letter back from the said Anthony & 2 from the guardian of the ffryers which were al taken from this examinant as he came back from Kildare by the Maior of Dublin: & that the last <Y> tuseday was fortnight he went from Dundalke with the said letter & came to Droghedagh that night where he lay at the fryers house but had no letters from any of them & the next day beinge wedensday he went to Hollwods of Artaine where he deliuered a letter which was giuen him by a frier in Dundalke called Brian mc Rory to Holliwoods wife & from thence on thursday he went to the towne of Kildare & deliuered a letter to the said mcgohegan; wher he stayed til the Saterday after for an answere vpon which day he came within 5 miles of Dublin to a place <Z> he knowes not & on the next day beinge Sunday coming ouer the grene of Dublin he was taken with his said 3 letters & comitted; he also saith that he knoweth not what the contents of any of the said letters were but only about puttinge in of a yong ffryer into ther house
