The examinacion of Dauid Eustace of Clongowes wood taken the day and yeare aforesaid
<p> Who saieth that he is a seruant in husbandry to James Eustace of Clongowes wood, and hath dwelt with him euer since he hath beene able to doe any seruice but hath liued for the most part at Moony in the County of Kildare and upon thursday last receiued word from James Eustace by a boy to goe downe from moony to Clongowes wood for iron to mend the plough at Moony beeing neuer there before since Easter last hauing not beene there since Easter last before that time, and saieth that Thomas ffitzgerald of Killmurry when his towne was burned by the English receiued a hurt or two in his legs by the english and went to Clongowes wood as this examinate hath heard and then came to the castle of Clongowes wood, by for shelter, where one mary Barnewall tooke him in hand to cure him and did cure him reasonable well so that he was able to use a peice at the comming of the army, and did discharge once once against the kings army but was quickly weary and so gaue it ouer, o But this examinate seemeth to haue litle knoweledge of any thinge that was done in the Castle from the time that he went to the castle it after at Easter, till the taking thereof
