The Examination of Robert Ardagh taken the xxixth daie of June 1642 Before mee Chancellour of his Maiesties Court of Exchequer By direction of the right honnorable the Lords Justices & Councell
Who beeing sworne & Examined, saith, that about the nynth of December last hee this Examinant going into the Territorie of fferrall in the kings Countie (with a purpose to bring thence his wife who then liued with her Mother att Tullaghmore in the Territorie aforesaid) was there deteyned by the Inhabitants of the said Territorie & durst not remoue from the said house of Tullaghmore wher{e} hee this Examinant was preserued by the power of Art ô Mulloie who is Collonell or Gouernour of the Rebells within the said Territorie & likewise husband vnto his this Examinants wiues Mother And this Examinant saith that within the said Territorie there are certaine persons who bee of the Councell att warr for the directing of buisenesses within the said Territorie as hee this Examinant vnderstood vizt Ownie mcTeige ô Mulloy Neile mcTibbot ô Mulloie of Pallis Phelim mcOwny Mulloy & William Brimingham of Broghallagh And further saith that within the Territorie aforesaid there were Captaines of the

Rebells the seuerall parties following vizt the aforementioned Phelim mcOwny Mulloy Hugh mcTibbott Mulloy Dominick Mulloy & Neale mcTibbott Mulloy And likewise saith that vpon each Cartran of Land within the said Territorie as hee this Examinant alsoe vnderstood there was a proportionable charge laid downe and accordingly paid for the maintenance of the fforces raised within the said Territorie & that amongst others Sir George Harbert and Sir Jasper Harbert as hee this Examinant vnderstood paid theire share and portion And lastly this Examinant saith that dureing his abode in the said Collonell Art ô Mulloyes house hee this Examinant there saw att two seuerall tymes both the said Sir Jasper Harbert and Sir George Harbert resort vnto vnto the said Art ô Mulloy his house where they the said Sir George & Sir Jesper had conference with him the said Art.
