Teige Kelly sworne & examined
saith that beinge sent by his Captayne Sir Jhon Sherlock the 13th of this present vnto Sutten of Tipper & at Newcastel to have his the sayd Suttens pass to carry a letter directed from by the sayd Sir Jhon vntoMr Christopher Sherlock his ffather neer vnto the Naase He this examinant was apprehended by the certeyne souldjers of one Captayne Donell before he came at the sayd Towne of Newcastell which soudjers conveyed the examinant as a prisoner vnto the Church of Newcastell wher the Rebells Courte Gary Garde was kept & there whilst he was beinge searched strictly in searcheing the sayd Corrnell Sutten came & received from him the examinant the letters & the examinat was therevpon kept in boults for fiue daye in boultes & every daye appointed to bee hanged but at length the examinat made an escape
And the Examinat sayth that at his beinge soe in the Rebells hands He then sawe thess Captaynes & corronells followeinge namelie Roger Moore

Corronell Sutten of Tipper Corronell Talbott Corronell ffitz Gerrott of Ballysernan Corronell Eustace of Castle Marrtyn Hugh McPhelim Corronell & lisagh Moore Coronell Captayne Owgann two sonns of Mr Pattericke Scurlocks of Rathcredan Captaynes Captaine Danyell & further sayth that the sayd Patterick Scurlock father to the sayd Captaynes was then alsoe present and did speake much against the Examinat and wished that he might bee hanged aswell as some of theyres were by the Kings souldjers And alsoe saythe that on Sunday after noone some of the sayd Coronells & Captaynes parted Companie Roger Moore & Corronell ffitz Gerrold with Captayne Day Danyell & as was said 500 men went towards Drogheda which men were <formerly quartered at SagardI> Captaynes Corronell Talbott & his men which were reported to bee [400] quartered at Caluerstowne Captayne Owgann & bothe the Scurlocks and Dempsey with theyre men remayne at Newcastell And Corronell Eustace into the Countie of Kildare Owen Toole vnto Newcastell Camballs & from thence vnto the Three Castell
