The Examination of Edward Reynolds of the towne of Catherlagh in the Co: of Catherlagh taken the 14th day of August 1652 before us Collonell Henry Prittie and Henry Jones Justices of the Peace for the Province of Leinster.
The examinant aged ab 30 yeres of thereabout, duely sworne & examined saith, that about [ ] February in the yeare 1641 he [ ] was made a prisoner in the Castle of Leighlyn in the Co: of Carloe where he continued about 3 weekes. That in that times severall English prisoners protestants were gathered together at Leighlyn aforesaid it being given out that they should be sent & convoyed to Rosse or Wexford. That on their way thither, Richard Lake of Leighlyn bridge aforesaid was hangd to death by some of that convoy: but by whose orders the <A> examinant knoweth not: But that James FF [ ] eny was present as a principall at the execution of the said Lake: & that Walter Bagnall of Dunleckny Esquire governor of the County of Carloe, & of Leighlyn did not punnish any who had an hand in the murders & that Charles Dampsy then commanding in Leighlyn, in absence of the said Bagnall, was Lite Lieveten{ant} to him the said Bagnall, [ ] by whose orders it is presumed { } in that command. This Examinant further saith that du{ } his [ ] abode in Leighlyn aforesaid, he was enformed tha{ } & her Childe crossing the river at the { } her Child were both cast over { } <B> by [ ] William D{ }his fact he was { }
