The Examinacion of Lawrence Knowles of the Towne of Catterlagh & in the County of Catterlagh taken vpon oath [ ] the 13th of August 1652: before vs Collonell Henry Pritty and Henry Jones Justices of the peace for the province of Leinster.
The Examinant Lawrence Knowles of Catterlagh aboute sixty & foure yeares of Age being duly sworne sayth that in the yeare 1642 aboute Easter he remoued his dwelling from Kellistowne in the said County of Catterlagh, vnto the Graige in the County of Kilkenny and that aboute the 3d of May 1642 he went from Graige to Laughlin bridge where was then a fayre & Continued there two or three dayes; and before his retorne, John Stone his sonn his Daughter &
<A> were Murthered betweene Tinahinch and St Mollin in the said County of Catterlagh aboute three miles from Graige aforesaid; & that he knoweth not by whome itt was don; nor by whose order.
And that he was soone after put in possession of the said Stones howse in the Graige aforesaid & parte of his goods by Richard mc Cody then & now of the Graige then Sarjeant to Sir Edward Butler of Low Grange in the County of Kilkenny aforesaid & for what became of the rest of the said Stones goods he knoweth nott;
And this Examinant further saith that vpon his leaueing of the said howse he left the said goods therein; being a table two Bedstids a Cubbard & some ould barrells the number whereof he doth not well remember; And this Examinant being demaunded whether in Conferrence the 12th of this instant with Captain Henry Jones and Mr Thomas Clarke att theire Lodging in Catterlagh Concering the death of on Sutton reported to haue bin lately murdered Executed att Waterford for murders & Robberyes he the said Knowles should therevpon say what should then become of Bagnell for the murder of John Stone; he the said Knowles denieth his speaking of those words or any thing to that purpose & further saith not &c
