The Examinacion of Ann Bradford wife to Alexander Bradford taken befor vs the day of August 1652
The examinant aged 30ty years or therabouts sworne & examined saith as followeth: that she was borne in Gowran in the County of Kilkeny but extracted from English parents Henry Whit{e} and saith that she then lyving in Gowran with her parents att the beginning of the Rebellion, that Walter Butler of Poulstowne & Peirce Butler sonne to Sir Edward Butler came to Gowran & the places thereto adiacent & seised vpon & tooke all the English Inhabitants they could find, and gathering them together putt them into prison in Gowra{n} wher they continued a fortnights tyme or therabouts: and afterwards took them out & pretended to send them with a Convoy to Ross, who bound them 2 & 2 together & that Morris Kelly of Gowran aforesaid being Ensigne to Captain Pierce Butler comaunded the said Convoy; who convoyd them within a muskett shott of Ross, wher he left them, who were in number about 30 or 40ty young & old as shee thinks, vizt Thomas White this examinants brother her husbands ffather mother & sister James Brumfeild his wife & 3 children, Arthur Scott & his wife, one Thurston, with diuers others whose names shee remembreth not, And saith that after the Convoy had left them, then said Kelly went into Ross & presently after ther came out of the towne of Ross some people who looked vpon them & went in agayne, and after that ther came 7 or 8 persons out of the said towne of Rosse with swords & batts in ther hands & did driue them a mile below Ross to a woods side and ther they murdered all the English except this examinant her husbands sister & 4 small children, but who they were or what ther names was that murthered them shee knoweth not; & further saith not
