The Examinacion of Edmond Scott of Balliragett gent aged forty yeares or there abouts beinge sworne & examined saith,
Saith that in the begininge of the Rebellion hee liued vnder Edmond Butler Esquire whoe was Elder brother vnto Edward Butler of Vrlingeford Esquire and liuinge in the towne of Balliraggett in the yeare forty one, there was brought six or seauen English protestants from ffreshford to Balliraggett, by the said Edward Butler and his Company, and this deponent saith that there was a litle boy amongst the prissoners about sixteene yeares of age that was goeinge to be hanged, the mother of the said boy whose name this deponent knoweth not, earnestly besought this deponent to begg for her sonns life, wherevpon this deponent went presently went to his owne house where the said Edward Butler then was, and desired that him that he would be pleased to giue the said boys life vnto this Examinant, And that hee would keepe him to be his seruant wherevpon the said Edward Butler said that he should haue the boy, and sent a toaken by this Examinant to the Marshall f rom the that was then executinge of the prissoners for to deliuer the said boy, but before this deponent could could returne to the place of Execucion the boy was handged, and this deponent being asked what Commanders was then in the towne of Balliragett aforesaid at that time saith hee knew, nor herd of noe other, but the said Edward Butler, and [ ] asked further saith not
