The Examinacion of Margaret Carre now of Tecrohan in the County of Meath widow, taken at Dublin the 25 January 1652
The said Margarett Carre aged thirty two yeeres or thereabouts being duely sworne and Examined saith That at the beginning of the Rebellion A nn o 1641 shee was the wife of Michaell Granford, and lived in Bally Heyes in the County of Cavan having three Children by the said Granford, That the Irish in that County generally rose gener <A> in Rebellion, and fell vpon the poore English & protestants stripped them of al their goods & apparell, and sent them out of the County in the dead of winter 1641. That the deponent with her said husband and children were amongst others so stripped & spoyled & sent away & came to Dublin where by reason of the hardships indured her said husband & children dyed That the deponent was afterwards marryed to Philip Carre formerly a Trouper in Sir John Borlases Troupe. That after the Cessacion here he went ouer into England & serued the Parliament there, in Major Owens Troupe, that coming over into Ireland in the yeere 1650, they left her said husband quitted his imployment in the warres and setled himselfe with the deponent at Balsoone in the County of Meath where the deponents father Alexander Sharpe was minister
That on thursday after May day 1652 her said husband Philip Carre went from Balsoone to Mynouth about his occasions, and coming thence homewards on the Saturday following, was about the midway about kil cock taken by Patrick <B> Gough, Teig Maloy, Richard Duggion, Patrick Rushe and by them carryed away towards Kilcock and was afterwards murdered, as the deponent veryly beleiues by the said foure Pattrick Gough, Teig Maloy Richard

Richard Duggion & Patrick Rushe or some or one of them. Her cause of knowledge is the confession of the said persons vpon their apprehension that they had so taken her husband and for that shee hath lately seene the Patrick Gough had his horse, and Richard Duggion his Clothes and, this deponent hath lately seene the said Duggion weare the said Clothes of her husbands taken from him at his death as aforesaid And further deposeth not.
