<A> The further Examinacion of Bartholmew Nangle of longford merchant taken befo the seaventeenth day of May 1654 before Tho: Richardson Esquire one of the members of the high Court of Justice by Order of the same Court
The said Examinant being demanded whether hee did not giue or fell or delude deliver or appoint to be deliuered in the tyme of the seig of the Castle of longford a pitch or tarre barrell to the Irish beseigers which was employed in attempting to fire the Castlegate The said Examinant denieth that ever hee did deliuer or give order for any such deliuerye but sayth that in the tyme of the seige Mr Martin and some others of the beseidged comming forth to parlye hee this Examinant heard the said Mr Martin say that they (meaneing the Irish) were like to sett fire on the Castle gate with his owne pitch barrell or words to that effect, And the Examinant being further demanded whether vppon the day the murther was committed at longford or at any other tyme and when hee the said Examinant did not in the street of longford flourish his sword about his head vsing theise or the like words vizt All is our owne, the day is ours, wee haue conquered all the English, and now wee shalbe ourselues againe The said Examinant denieth that ever hee vsed any such posture or spake or vttered any such words or other words to any such effect or

or that hee had either sword or skeane at that tyme or long before, for that at the very first day <B> the Irish came to longford Lisagh mc Gerald fferrall (then termed a Captaine) tooke this Examinants sword from him which was never restored him to this day And further sayth not.
