The Examinacion of Abell Ram of Goary gentleman aged thirtie six yeares or thereabouts taken vpon oath on the behalfe of the Comonwealth Concerning the said Eneas Cavanagh of Molane gentleman deceased
The Examinant by vertue of his oath saith and Deposeth That the said Eneas Cavanagh did in the beginning of the rebellyon liue within three miles to the Deponent and did rayse a Companie of souldyers which he Armed and went about the Countrey plundering the english and protestants with them and vsuallie brought his preys of the english cattle to the towne of Goary, where he was accustomed to keep his Rendezuous, And further saith that vpon the two and twentieth daie of Nouember 1641 <x> the said Eneas with his said Companie, which Consisted of fortie men And vpwardes Armed with swordes pikes and musquets, came to this Deponents dwelling at Ramsforte, and required the Deponent to yeild the same to him which this Deponent Denyed to Doe, wherevpon the said Eneas and his Companie [ ] beseiged the Deponent for about three dayes, and the deponent dispairing of any releife from the english did surrender the same to the said Eneas whereupon the said Eneas & his forces entered thereinto, and tooke possession of the Deponents goods & Cattle to a great vallue, & conuerted the same to his owne vse, and turned the deponent & his familie thereout & would not permit and or suffer the Deponent to take away any parte of his goods or cattle, And that the said Eneas continued in the possession of the Deponents estate & [manured] the same & conuerted the issues and proffits thereof to his owne vse, till the reducing of the said Countie by the Lord generall Cromwells & his army & further saith that Tirlagh, James, & owen the said Eneas his three sons, were with their father in Armes, at the time & in the actions aforesaid, & further saith not &c
