The examinacion of Major Edward Aston of Gilbarrye in the County of Waterford taken vpon oath on the behalfe of the Comonwealth Concerning John Colclough late of Tinterne in the County of Wexford esquire deceased
vpon the whole Matter of the Interrogatoryes the examinant Deposeth and saith that the said John Colclough was not onely in actuall Armes with & of the Irish Rebells that beseiged sumoned & tooke the castle of Tinterne guarrissoned by this deponent & a party of the english therein (which was in or about July 1642): but that the said John was the onely man that contracted with Captain John Deuereux of Mountpill, Hugh Rochford high sherriffe of the said County of Wexford & others, to giue them the said Devereux, Rochford & the Rest <q> foure hundred poundes for Reducing the said castle to the obedience of the Irish & Inuesting him the said John Colclough into the possession thereof which castle & the landes there to bellonging the said John Colclough afterwardes enjoyed. The deponents cause of knowledge is for that the deponent was informed thereof by the generall relacion of the Countrey there abouts and further saith not
