James Peirce of Ballell gent bei Aged about forty yeares being sworne & examined vpon the whole matter of the Interrogatoryes saith Concerning the said Thomas Welch and Nicholas his sonne saith & deposeth that he hath seen the said Thomas and Nicholas in actuall Armes as with swordes & speares & musquets in the <g> first yeare of the warres and sithence, & further saith that he hath seen the said Nicholas in Armes as aforesaid amongst the Irish of the Countrey congregated togeather to the seaside, about the seacond yeare of the warre & there defending the shoare against the english ships then riding at anchor in Greenore bay & hindering them the english ships to Land their men then aboard them
