The Examinacion of Patricke Codd of Whitehowse gent taken vpon oath on the behalfe of the Comonwealth Concerning Thomas Welsh of the Bush in the County of Wexford gent deceased
<To the 1st interr> The examinant deposeth & saith that he well knew the said Thomas Welch & that to his personall knowledge the said Thomas lived at Bush in the County of Wexford in the <h> Irish quarters the first yeare & since till he dyed & did not thence remooue into the english quarters as many english & protestants Living neere him the said Thomas did
<To the 2d Interr> Hee cannot depose
<To the 3d interr> The Examinant deposeth that he is confident the said Tho: did the first yeare of the rebellyon did actually contribute his share of the taxes or contribucion then <i> Imposed on the countrey for carrying on the warre against the english As this deponent & others of the Countrey did
<To the 4th interr> Hee deposeth that he hath seen the said Thomas in actual{l} <k> Armes in the first yeare of the warre with the Irish against the english his cause of knowledge appeares.
<To the 5th Interr> Hee deposeth and saith that he hath seen the said Thomas at seauerall publicque meetings of the Irish in the <l> barrony of forte and County of Wexford in the first yeare of the warre, in refferrence to the forwarding & duancing the saide warre against the english
<To the 6th inter> Hee cannot depose
<To the 7th inter> The examinant deposeth & credibly beleiues that the said Thomas did take the oath of associacion being soe generall a thing <m> over the whole countrey that he conceiues noe person could shun the taking thereof

<To the 10th inter> The examinant saith that he knoweth that the said Thomas had a sonne by name Nicholas Welch, which said Nicholas to the best of the deponents knowledge was with his said father at the vsuall meetings of the Irish frequently in <n> the barrony of forte & County aforesaid, where the said Nichas the whole time of the warre and now liveth
