The Examinacion of William Talbott of wexford yeoman aged fortie nyne yeares or thereabouts taken vpon oath on the behalfe of the Comonwealth Concerning Melcher Synnott of Ballemuny in the barronie of Ballaghkeen & Countie of wexford gent deceased
<To the 1st Interr> The Examinant saith and Deposeth That the said Melcher dwelt at Ballemuny and in the barrony and County aforesaid in the Irish quarters the first yeare & the residue of the rebellyon, without remoouing himselfe into <m> the english quarters which he might haue done As Sir walsingham Cooke knight this Examinants master Edward Chichester esquire and other protestants that dwelt in that barrony at that time did

<To the 10th Inter> The Examinant saith That the said Melcher had one sonne by name Jesper who was his eldest sonne, And saith that the said Jesper was an attendant to Sir Morgan Cauanagh in the beginning of the rebellyon & was Clearke to the said Sir Morgan During his the said Sir Morgans life and afterwardes vizt about the yeare 1645 and thence forward till the Irish Army submitted vpon Articles the said Jesper became <n> a Captaine of a foote Companie in the Regiment of Collonell Danyell Cavanagh: The Deponents cause of knowledge is for that the said Melcher informed the Deponent that he had preferred his sonne to be clearke to the said Sir Morgan Cavanagh, And for that the Examinant said Jesper Synnot after he became a Captaine did vsually quarter his souldyers in the towne where the deponent dwelte and receiued of this deponent his proporcion of the publicque taxes raysed for maintenance of the Irish Armie, and further saith not &c
