The examinacion of Nicholas Connor of Ballinvellegh gent aged about sixty yeares taken vpon oath on the behalfe of the Comonwealth Concerning James Morchoe alias mc Hugh of Balliaddam in the barrony of Ballaghkeen & County of wexford gent deceased vpon the Interrogatoryes annexed to the Comission of enquiry
<To the 1st Inter> The deponent saith that he knew the said James for that he dwelt about two miles distant from the deponents <s> habitacion all the time of the rebellyon and thence did not remooue into the english quarters as one Mr wrench and diuers other english and protestants living neere him did
<To the 2d interr> Hee Cannot depose
<To the 3 & 4th> Hee possitiuely deposeth not
< To the 5th inter> The Deponent saith that he hath frequently seen the said James at the publicque meetings or assemblyes of <t> the Irish of and in the said barrony in order to the ordering the Irish affayres against the english as well the first yeare of the Rebellyon as since.
<To the 6th Interr> The Deponent saith that he did see the said James at the meeting of the whole County at the hill of Carricque at which place the Irish did make election of members for the generall or Nationall assemblyes <u> & for men to act as County provinciall Councellors for the management of the Rebellyon against the english but the precise time of the said meeting the examinant doth not remember.
<To the 7th & 8th Inter> Hee Cannot depose
<To the 9th & 10th inter> The Deponent saith that the said James was a Cheife collector of the Irish cesses in the quarter of the said Barrony <w> And that the said James had a sonne by Name Michaell Morcho who being a kinde of scholler was head receiuer in the said middle quarter eyther in behalf of his father or him selfe [ ] ffor diuers leuyes: His cause of knowledge is for that the deponent during

their Continuance in that Imployment but the certaine yeare he cannot call to minde paid his proporcion of the seauerall levyes reflecting on the Countrey to the said James and Michaell seauerally as the same was demanded: And further saith that the said deponent did see the said James & Michaell his sonne about the yeares 1641 or 1642: (but the certaine yeare & time he doth not remember) on horses & in Armes, marching with a party of the Irish that <x> were raysed in the County of wexford into the County of wickloe to a place called Carrigmarelough neere Wickloe towne where the Irish & english fought with losse on each side
