The examinacion of William Synnot of William Synnott of Balliconnor husbandman aged about fortie yeares taken vpon oath on the behalfe of the Comonwealth Concerning James Peirce of Ballell in the County of Wexford gent
<To the 1st interr> The examinant deposeth and saith that the said James Peirce dwelte at Ballell the whole time of the rebellyon and did not thence remooue into the english as he might haue done as well as the <y> protestants liuing neere him the said James did The cause of knowledge is for that the deponent dwelte in the next towne to the said James Peirce
<To the 2d & 3 d inter> Hee Cannot depose
<To the 4th Inter> The deponent saith that in the first yeare of the rebellyon the said James did vsually bring togeather into the feildes of Ballye [slee p] seauerall men of the parish of Kilscowran (wherein the said James dwelte) where the said James did teach them to exercize or <z> vse their Armes & would make them march from Ridge to Ridge shewing them the way how they should handle and chardge their said Armes & further saith that the deponent did said James did vsually carry a pike in the said first yeare The deponents cause of knowlege is for that the deponent did see him the said James to exercize the men in manner aforesaid & to carry a pike vsually and frequently with him the said James Peirce and further saith that about three or foure yeares after the warre brake forth the deponent did see the said James Peirce march with the trayne band Company of the barrony of forth to Polmounty as a serjeant of that Company the <a> deponents cause of knowledge is for that the deponent was Constrayned to march to Polmounty as a priuate souldyer in the said Company vnder the Comand of Collonell Dauid Synnott
