The Examinacion of Margaret Hitchins of wexford widdow aged fiftie yeares or thereabouts taken about vpon oath Concerning the said Allexander Redmond of Rahin gent.
The examinant being duely sworne & examined saith & deposeth that the said Allexander did come on horsebacke and in Companie with one Thomas Masterson to the howse of Tomduff the Mansion howse of Sir walsingham Cooke knight in which howse the examinant then dwelt which was about Hallantide {1641} And that the said Allexander & the men in Armes in his <u> their Companie about fourscore persons plundered the said howse of all sir walshingham Cookes goods and Chattles therein, & carryed away the same to their Respectiue dwellings: And especially the said Allexanders owne seruants tooke from this deponent one cow which was left her by her master Sir walsingham Cooke for her Releife which cow togeather with Two cowes, one heifer & one bullocke of William Oultons proper goods the deponent did see & in the said Allexanders keeping and in his Companie among his cattle and the deponent begging hard of the said Allexander for to be restored to her cow, he the said Allexander denyed to giue backe the same except she had paid him six poundes in Leiw thereof: And

ffurther saith that about March or ffebr 1642: the said Allexander came in Companie with one Eneas Keinsly & about [ffourescore ] three men in Armes in their Companie with them to the said howse of Tomduffe & Comanded the said men with them to bring in straw & breake downe the wenscott of the said howse and set fire therein which was accordingly done & the howse Imediately was burnt, and consumed with fire and At which time the deponent was present & heard the said Allexander <w> giue Comand to the said men to fire the said howse of Tomduffe which was effected in manner aforesaid and further saith not &c
