The Examination of Mathew Hiffernan, taken the 6o of November 1652.
Sayth that, hee was att the seige of Cullin, vnder the Command of Lt: Collonel Bourke, being forced thereto by the proclamation, that Euery man should rise in Armes against the English, hee sayth that Lt: Collonel Bourke Commanded the seige, and yett that hee the said Lt: Collonel was nott there when the men that Came out of the Castle were killed. hee sayth that hee knew Josias Brown, butt knoweth nott whoe killed him. & further sayth nott.
