<symbol A> The Examination of Nicholas Salle of Cashell Co: Tiperary Taken the 24th of August 1652
This Examinant sworne & Examined saith that he is aged forty & fiue yeares or theyr abouts, and further saith that he was is an inhabitant of the to Citty of Cashell and was then resident theyr one the one & thirteth of December 1641, when Collonel Phillip oDwyer & his party did Eenter the said Citty (hauing besett the Citty with about 2000 men & so forst the gattes) & that so sone as they Entred they began to plunder the English & protistants bringe bringing in all theyr plunder to Mr Beanes Hows which was appoynted as a Generall storehowse for the sayd goods, further saith that the next morning early they Murthered diuers Englich protistants afore said to the number of fiftenn or sixtenn persons, further saith that he did not see any of the personns as they were Murthering, but heard that they wer Murther{ed} <B> by one William James Roch of Baligrifin & the sonns of John Mac Mahgh g Maghhunagh vid of Crossalle, vid: Edmond & Donagh & William mc Shean, and further saith that Phillip mcThomas ôDwyer of Moorstown Cast a dart att one Mr Banister hitting him in the lege as he was Running away to saue his life, by which means he mayd a stand & they Came & Murthered him as this Deponent was Credibelly informed, & further saith that phillip mc William: mcphillip of Ardmaile a Tailor Killed Thomas Sadler as he was Credably informed, & further saith that he this deponent saw phillip magrath a plundring and further saith not,
