The examinacion of John Rouse of Mocallopp taken before me att Youghall this 18th of October 1652 Concerneinge the death of Thomas Carter of Mocollopp thelder./
The sayde John Rouse beinge duely sworne and examined deposeth and sayth that he well knoweth that Gibbon mc Shane of Bredan Came to Mocollopp with a great <A> partie of foote in or about June 1642 and meetinge with this deponent att the Greene of Mocollopp he the sayde Gibbon Mc Shane pursued this deponent to the fford that is betwixt the greene & the Castle of Macollopp and that the sayde Gibbon did then ryde of Bartholamew Embry his mare, whoe was a litle before murdered nere Inchylemy by the sayde partie, and that he with his partie then wounded this deponent in the Blacke water & there lefte him for dead and that Mr Carter Barth Embry James Backlett William Carter Thomas Hutchins Robert Marshall and Owen mc Quinlan were murdered by the said Gibbon mc Shane and his partie And ffurther sayth not, saue onely <B> he heard that by Gibbon mc Shane and Edmond Border, that Morris รด Gilly and Morris mc Richard was there present
