The Examinacion of Mr Callahan Carthy of dunmanway taken September the 13th 1652
Sayeth: That in the first yeare of the Troubles this Examinatt then liveing with his ffather, Teige O downy alias Carthy: well remembers that his father tooke into his protection the person & family of John fford & his sonne Roberte fford & his wife, And aboute <A> six weekes after vpon ffords request sent the said fford with his sonne Roberte & their ffamilyes with a Convoy towards Castelhaven where as by the way they: And that John fford was (as this examinant heard) murthered by the way, And the rest of them he knowes not what became of them, but (as he heard) they went safe to the Garrison of Castelhaven & And this Examinatt further sayeth That the names of the persons that his father sent to be their Convoy, was dearmond O Leary that liues with Mr Randall Oge Hurley, Thomas McKnougher liveing neare Bandon and donnough O Terahan of Glanocrinie: And further sayeth not:
