The Examinacion of Mr Charles McOwen Carthy of Barretts; aged aboutyeares: taken the 16th of September 1652
Sayeth: That in the first yeare of the Troubles in Ireland, This Examinantt then being (about some occasions (as he best remembreth) in the County of Lymmericke, At his retorne, heard that two English men (that were sent with a Convoy from Muckrompe towards Corke) were taken & hanged neare the bounds of North Kilmurry note farre from Carrigadrohad: And further sayeth he knowes not by whome they were soe murthered onely he heard it reported in the Country that dr: O Healy of Curvody in Barretts should haue a hand in it: And this Examinantt further sayeth, that he taxed the said doctor seuerall tymes with the Murther of the foresaid persons, but he denyed it: And this Examinantt further sayeth, that (as he best remembreth) there was sent by the same Convoy & at the same tyme neare twenty English men women & Children, who were murthered betwene Blarny & Corke: And further sayeth, that he heard, that one William Oge Slaboh then of Blarny ward was the Cheife Actor in the foresaid Murther And that he doth not remember the names of any that were Confederates with him in that Act: And further sayeth that he likewise heard of one Roberte Scott with his wife and three daughters that were Murthered at CloughmaCowe, that lived with William Morfewe vpon the same Land: And (to his best remembrance) he saw one man that was hanged by the Lord of Muskery neare Carrigadrohad, for the said Murther Many other Murthers he hath heard were Committed, but is not able to give any directions for the discouery of them: And further sayeth not:
