<Mallow March 7th 1653> Depositions taken Concerninge Mortagh Mc Daniell Carthy of Inaky in the Barrony of Muskery in the yeare 41
John Bartley of Mallow Gentleman Aged about 35 yeares beinge Sworne and Examined Saith that hee Liued att Maghery in the parish of Ouens in the Barrony of Muskery in the yeare 41 that hee knew the afforesaid Carty
That the said Carty was in Actuall Rebellion and had Comand of a Company with the Irish
The Cause of this deponent knowledge is that hee was taken prisoner by Sum Soldiers then under the Comand of the afforesaid Carthy and was brought by those that tooke this deponent before the said Carthy who promised to see deliuered what goods this deponent had Lost but this deponent doubtinge his Engagement made his Eskape with his Life
