<Kinsale ffebruary 23th 1653>
Depositions taken Concerninge Rirey Mc Teige Mc Donnog Mc na Marragh of the parish of Quine in the Barrony of Tullagh in the County of Clare in the yeare 41
Humphrey Dudley Gent of Kinsale Aged about 4{ } yeares beinge sworne and Examined saith that hee Liuinge one the Land of the afforesaid Rire in th{e} yeare 41 that hee knew the afforesaid Rirey Liuinge as afforesaid in the yeare 41
<1> That hee might haue Remoued into the English Quarters as diuers English of his Neighbours did
<3> Thus hee did Actually Contribute both Armes and prouisions to the Eneimy in the same yeare
<4> That hee tooke by uiolence and force of Armes the goods of this deponent and his ffather in Law viz 25 English sheepe in houseald stuff to the uallue of 40 li. sterling in Corne in stack and in ground to the uallue of 80 li. of hay in stack to the uallue of 20 li. all Amounting to the uallue of 215 li. sterling
<5> That hee was both att publiqe and priuate Metings with the Eneimy
That hee had a sonn in Actuall Rebellion and was then Ensigne to an Irish Company
That there did Liue of English Neere this deponent viz Tho: Dollen since dead John Quine since dead
That hee tooke into his Custody the goods of this deponent viz 40 head of Cattle & horses and Mares with a promise to Restore them againe when there should bee a settlement of peace but hath not Restored any parte thereof hitherto
The Cause of this deponent knowledge is that hee Liuinge as tennant to the afforesaid Ririe in the yeare 41 that this deponent beinge Comanded by the Earle of Thomond to Asist sum English that were Plundered by the Irish and att his Returne home found the said Rirey in possession of all what he had, and did turne the said deponents ffather and Mother and ffamily out of doores who were inforced to flie to Clare Castle for safety to which Castle this deponent was forced to Repaire suddenely affter & farther saith not
