<Lymerick 1652> The Examinacion of Peirs Creagh fitz Andrew Alderman of the City of Lymerick, on the behalfe of the State or Common wealth of England against the now Lord of Castle Connell taken vpon oath the 22th day of November 1652
The Examinant sayeth That in the first yere of the Rebellion before there was any formed Army on the irish part <A> as he knoweth or heard of He was told (for out of the City gates he this deponent durst not goe) that he the said Lord of Castle Connell was Commander of that party which came against Sir Richard Southwells house called Singland house and that he was present with them [ ] when he took it was taken
That afterwards he the said Lord & others came (as he this deponent hath heard) by authority of the Supreame Councell, and with forces blockt vp this City from their marketts, soe that they were gladd to make an agreement with the Supreame Councell for this to haue their marketts free
<B> That after this he the said Lord came into the County of Clare with a party and others Commanders with him but he was Cheif in Command, and droue away from this deponent Examinant 3000 sheep & more & 300 Cowes & horses euen all he had and all the stock of sheep & cattle that he could finde of Mr Patrick Sarsfields Mr Nicholas ffanning, Dr White & others who were proclaimed Rebells by the Supreame Councell for not opposeing their comeing into this City
And this deponent Examinant further sayeth That as he the <C> said Lord came against the said Singland house with his party in the nigt time in the very winter that the Rebellion broak out (as he doth remember) and that he the said Lord he & his party made shott at it, and that he had there was a hott dispute with those that kept the House before he could take it, Insomuch as there was some slaine (as this Examinant hath heard) on both sides And further this Examinant sayeth not
