Bryan Kelly: off beagh; in the halfe barrony off Moycarnan; beeing examined, sayth that aboutt the Later end off July Last was a twelmonth; three troopers, (two on ffoott and one on horsebacke;) lodged in his Castle all Nyghtt; beeing vpon the Rode from Athlone; and the Nextt day the sayd trooper{s} takeing there Jorney towards ballynasley; was Mett by a Company of toryes aboutt halfe a mile from ballynasley; and two off the sayd troopers beeing on foott, was taken by the Company of toryes; the trooper, that was Mounted Made his escape backe againe to the aforesaid Castle off beagh Whereas he was by this examined Receiued into the Castle; and Noe sooner Makeing fast the Graite; butt Edmond Lynogh [ ] one of the toryes; came vp to the Graite with his sword drane in one hand, and a pistoll Coct in the other hand; demanded from the examined the trooper which he had Receiued into his Castle, otherwise he would sett fire to the Graite and burne and prey the towne; butt the examined sayth; that he Made answere he would nott Giue vp the trooper to him att all; vpon which the said Lynogh Made backe againe to the place where he left the two troopers prisoner; with the Rest off the toryes; and the examined sayth that he see (from the topp of his Castle) the said Company of toryes, Carry the prisoners downe to a bogge Neare to a toune called Culyagh; and that Nott long after the said Lynogh, tooke from the examined eleuen twelue Cowes and sixteene Garrens. the examined sayth that he Conducted the sayd trooper (he Receiued into his Castle) vnto the Garrison, of ballynasley; and there deliuded him vp to Capt: Hassett then beeing Gouernor: and further saith Nott:
