The examinacion of John mcshedah taken the 24th of December 1652
<A> Being examined whether hee was of the Lord Clonmorris his party in the beginning of the Rebellion, hee saith hee was his page then & had been soe six or seaven yeares before, being examined whither hee was a soldier vnder the said Lord hee saith hee was not, & that hee was never enlisted as a soldier nor tooke vp armes during the Rebellion; being examined what hee knowes of the murther of three Englishmen that came from Gallway; hee saith that hee was present when the said three Englishmen wer hangd at Claranbridge within two miles of Oranmore <B> by the Lord Clonmorris his orders, & that the said Lord was present at their execucion & this examinant being his servant was with him and hee saith that hee did not act any thing in the said murther nor contribute any endeavours thervnto <only hee saith that hee assisted those that did apprehend them, & did lay hands on one of them named John ffurlong who is yett alive.> being examined whither hee had any armes that day hee Saith hee had a rapier: being askt what others wer present at the said execucion hee saith

there was present, Captain Redmond Burke <A> deceased, Collonell Thomas Burke son brother to the said Redmond & Captain Edmond Burkes
Being further examined how the said three men wer apprehended hee saith that <B> Colonel the Lord Clonmorris being at Kilcornan heard they wer at Oranmore & went thither hee remembreth not who was in his Company going thither, hee being yong & not able to ride soe fast as they, only hee saith that hee saw the abovenamed persons present at their execucion.
<C> Being further examined he what hee knowes of the executing of five Englishmen more at Athenree, hee saith then they wer brought to Kilcornan to the Lord of Clonmorris by some of Redmond Burks party, & when they had been there two or three nights the Lord of Clonmorris went to Athenree & sent for them Thither where they wer executeding by his orders; but this examinant was not present at their execucion & hee knoweth not any that had any hand eyther in the apprehending of them or executing of them only that it was don by the Lord Clonmorris his order.
