The Examination of Thomas Lynche of Shrewle
<A> The said Examinant being deposed sayth That the Irish Convoy with the English with them lay at Kinlagh a myle from Shrewle the night before they come to Shrewle and the next night lay at Robert Lamberts in Shrewle, the next day after being Sonday about Eleuen of the Clock He heard some shooteing and afterwards a great Crye, wherevppon he went forth and inquired what the matter was and he watched & saw that they were killing the English, At which tyme he saw one Marcus McE neas Euer of Macarre leaueling his peice at an English man in the Ryuer to whereuppon he went into his ffathers House againe, and knoweth not whether the said Mr Ennis shott, nor where he now is, He further sayth That hee was told that the now Lord of Mayo and Maior Browne of the Neill went were goeing ouer the Bridge and were forced back but by there [ ] Conuoy whome he knowes not and that they went out of Towne a good while after the old Lord but saw neither of them, neither can he tell who informed him of it but only by a flyeing <B> Report, He further sayth That he saw one Thomas Rorke with a Cudgell in his hand knocking a man in the head in the Riuer, which Rourke is since dead, He lykewise sayth that the Convoy and the English went from Kinlagh on Satturday to Doonlary uppon their way to Gallway and returned back, and came ouer the Bridge of Shrewle, where he saw William Bourke of Ballisnahine march uppon the head of a Company who had all new pikes but knowes not whether he acted anything, He lykewyse heard by common Report the next day Moyler Kedagh McJonyne of Ballynacuthin was an Actor in the Murther but cannot particularize any who told him neither doth he know where the said Moyler now is And further sayth not But that the day after the Murther He saw the said Moyler in Shrewle, And further sayth not
