The Examination of Jo: Hessie Taken sh at Gallway the 23o of feb: 1652
<A> Who being Examined saith that on the day that the murder was comitted at Shrewell bridge betwixt the County of Galway & the County of Mayo it beinge on a Sunday the day of the month he knowes remembreth not this Examinant was there the cause of his cominge thither was to take a Lease from Stephen Darsie this deponents foster Brother who beinge heard the said Steuen was that day at Shrewell abouesaid ca m e to him to the & at his cominge to Shrewel he mett with the Lord of ould Lord of Mayo with Mr Bringhurst goinge out of towne & this deponent goinge into towne did see the English men & weomen forced ouer the bridge who made a great Cry, this deponent drawinge neerer to the bridge did see diuers of the said English murdered some with Clubs knokinge them downe others shootinge at them others runinge them throwgh with swords & stabinge <B> them with skeines the perticuler persons whom he remembreth that acted in the said murder and murder & now liuinge are in the List herevnto anexed & beinge examined further saith not.
