The examjnacion of Connor Magwyre of Cookestowne in the County of Meath aged thirty yeares or thereaboutes taken the xxxjth day of July 1654 before vs Sir Gerrard Lowther knight James Donnellan esq and Thomas Dongan esquires Commissioners of the R eg Court of administracion of Justice, and Justices of the Peace for the County & Citty of Dublin &c.
Whoe beeing duely sworne and examjned deposeth and saith That about three monthes after the begining of the Rebellion in Ireland the examjnant b then liueing at a place in a house called the Blacke=bull within fowre Miles of the towne of Cauan there came into the said house one Hugh ô Rely deceased, Coconoght ô Gowen now or lately prisoner in Trym, and seuerall others whose names the examjnant knoweth not, and the examjnant then passing to and from the roome where in the said Hugh ô Rely and the said <A> Coconoght ô Gowen and others then were, the examjnant heard the said Hugh ô Rely and seuerall others then present say in the presence of the said Coconoght ô Gowen that hee t he said Cocono ght had killed an English woman the first winter after the rebellion neere Drogheda and the said Hugh ô Rely said that the said Englishwoman was the wife of the said John Hevy who liued some tyme in the County of Cauan, The examjnant saith that the said Coconoght ô Gowen did not gainesay the said Hugh Rely or the other persons aforesaid who spoke concerning the murther aforesaid neither did the said Coconoght then deny the same, The examjnant further saith that in

in harvest last past the examjnant beeing at Cookestowne neere Kelles in the County of <B> Meath the examjnant was there tould by Hugh ô ffarreley of Mastestowne Maretowne in the Barrony of Nauan in the said County of Meath (in the presence of Melaghlyn ô ffenaghan), that the said Coconoght ô Gowen did tell confesse to the said Hugh ô ffarrelley that hee the said Coconoght did the first winter after the rebellion kill an Englishwoman neere Drogheda,The examjnant further saith that about May last past and seuerall the examjnant beeing at Cookestowne aforesaid the examjnant was there tould in the presence of the said Tirlao by Tirlagh mc Carran of Cookestowne aforesaid (in the presence of the said Melaghlyn ô ffenagan) that the said Coconoght <C> ô Gowen did confesse to him the said Tirlagh mc Garran that hee the said Coconoght the first winter after the rebellion did en kill an English=woman neere Drogheda, And further saith not,
