The examinacion of Ellin Nixon alias Bratten aged about 40 yeares wife of John Bratten taken vpon oath &c 28 Febr 1652
Who deposeth that she hath often heard from the Irish & seuerall others the substance of all the particulars <A> mencioned in her husbands examinacion to be true, & farther saith that her brother Robert Nixon being in the house with her at Magherecon at the begining of the Rebellion, there came of three of Phill: O Quins soldiers named ffarr Roe O Quin, Brian mc Bane mc Grane, & Edm: O Quin & were sent by their Captain (as they said) for fifteen pounds in Gold which he heard the said Nixon had, & after much beating & threatning to kill him, & laying his head vpon a block seuerall times to murder him, shee this examinant (who had it to keep) gaue them the said fifteen pounds, which they deliuered to the said Phill: O Quin then Captaine at Legacurry the next morning, & he gaue them ten shilling a piece out of it; & after her said Brother Rob: Nixon was kept prisoner by Dan: Roberty a long time, & (as this examinant heard) was taken from him by one Cor= <Cormack o Neille> mack O Neille, & after was murdered as this examinant belieue haueing neuer seen him since.
