The examinacion of Christian Hunter of Ramore in Com: Antrim aged thirty eight yeares or thereabouts taken at Carrickfergus 6 May 1653
Who saith that she liued at Magherecow in Com: Ard m agh in the begining of the Rebellion & she & her husband was William Kirk was kept prisoner there by the Irish for the space about halfe a yeare & sometimes the said Irish would permitt them to walk abroad a little into the fields said towne And one day as they chanced to be walkeing in the said towne of Magherecow this examinant espied a slaine body lyeing vpon the fields ground in the said towne which this examinant demanded of her husband whose Corpes it was who replied vnto her that it was the Corpes of John Baumer a neighbour of theirs who liued there And she further saith that her <A> said husband did tell vnto her that it was one Neale Roe o Rauerty which liued there which killed the said John Baumer as he was seekeing relief from such of the Irish in Magherecow haueing nothing left him to sustaine him withall by the said Irish And the cause of her husbands knowledge was as he related vnto his wife this examinant was that he worked with an Irish man there named Hugh o Cleran who had the charge of him being a prisoner & one day being goeing abroad aside to the backs ide of the towne with the said Hugh Cler i an into the towne to work he espied the said Neale o Rauerty run after the said Rich Baumer with a Pike & overtook him & killed him therewith And further saith not that the said Rauerty was a soldier then vnder Capt Phill o Quin now in prison, who did turne this examinante & her husband & children out of their houses & putt Art <b> o Donnelly into their house & disposed all their goods amongst his soldiers, And she saith that one Shane o Roberty killd Robert Stephenson in Maghercow whose [ ] Corps shee helped to bury hauing his braines cutt & scull in 2 by the said Shane whom she saw take him out of the house with a drawne sword, but dirst not looke after him when he gaue him his death wound & further saith not
