The examinacion of James Jackson husband=man v p of Crosse mc Conghly in the Cunty of Arm: aged 30 yrs ore or thereaboutes: 5 March 1653.
who saith that at the begining of the beging of the Rebellion being a servang to mr Right who liued a mile beyond Loughgoole in the said County of Armagh, he and seuerall others of the English Inhabitants hoping to come to Lisnegarvy for the safty of there liues were striped at Tanderogee by some of the Irish whose names he knowes not & turned back soe this examinant went to a mill where one Mr Johnson was with his wife and Children and seuerall others of the English & amongst the rest there came <Giles Adams kild> one Giles Adams a poore English man to get a reliefe & from thence he went to the howse of one Shane O Sleauen who liues now <Shane o Sleuan the murderer> beyond Drumore now in Protection which Shane had possesed posest him selfe of the howse of one William Wisney & liued in it within a mile of Lough goale & telling this examinant whether he was goeing both he & also the Miller aduised him not to goe for that the said: O sleauan would kill him yet if he went & this examinant sawe the said Sleauan bring him the said Giles Adams to the mill dam & there him selfe & noe other being in the Company with a greate Clubb knocked him in the head & threw him in to the mill damm
