The depositione of Robert Merryman of Ballyhornan Gent in the Barrony of Lecale & County of Downe taken before vs this 25 day of Aprile 1653 of the age 75 years or theirabowtes who beinge sworne saith
That abowte July 1643 this deponent leavinge his dwelling in Ardgloss vppon a satterday and intendinge to Porte fferrye where his occasions caled him, stayed that night att Nicholas Merrymans howse sonne to this deponent and the next morninge goeinge to Ardgloss when he came thither he saw fowre men slayne in the Garisone of Ardglass (viz) Patrick Mc Leenan, Thomas Roger, Manus Mc Lehe and a fowrth man whose name this deponent knowth not, and was towld by Edward Jacksone & John Norrise, William Hamiltone and John Dixone that they slew theise persons by order of Leivtenant John Will then Commander of Ardglosse
