The examinacion of John Porter of Clanconnell in Com: Downe aged fifty yeares or thereabouts taken 12 May 1653
<A> Who being duely sworne saith that he liued in Ballinderry parish at the begining of the Rebellion & about three weekes after he did see his Cowes takeing away by one Hen: mc Terilaucry & Rory mc ilcrany vpon which this examinant locked a Taylor named Hugh Wild in a Roome in his house who was makeing Clothes for him & left his brother Edward Porter & his wife in the house who are both sithence dead & this examinant went after the said Hen: & Rory to see if he could procure his Cowes from them & in the meane time dureing his absence from his hose as a foresaid there came one Patt: Oge O Hullan Cullo mc Knogher now prisoners at Carrickfergus & a Priest named Art O Hollan thither & searched vp & downe in the house for Armes & finding none they broke open the doore of the Roome wherein the said Tailor named Hugh wild was who crept vnder the bed vpon their entry therein & from whence they pulled him out & brought him out of the said house & imediatly vpon their comeing out another neighbour a manch man named Edw: more being also a Taylor by his trade chanced to be running by the doore the same time & him they killed instantly & imediatly afterward fell vpon the said Hugh Wild & wounded him soe cruelly vntill his gutts came out which was all related vnto this examinant by his said brother named Edw: Porter being in the house as aforesaid & of which this examinant did see a part how the said Wild held his Gutts in with his hands haueing some little life in him at this examinants comeing home & presently after died And this examinant saith about a month after he did heare seuerall of the Irish saying that the said Patt: oge o Hullan Cullo mc Knogher & Art o Hullan & the said Priest had done very ill for killing the said Hugh Wild & Edw: More And further saith not
