The Examinacion of Elizabeth Jefferdson wife to Ralph Jefferdson liuing in Ballimaconchy taken by me this 7th of March 1652

This Examinant being Duely Examind saith that her husband and shee, haueing liued after the begining of the Rebellion (about three quarters of a yeare) at a place called the Grange O Mallan in the Countie of Tierone, that aboute a fortnight after the first riseing one <A> Daniell Roe and an other man and a boy whose names shee knew not came vnto the house where shee liued, her husband and shee, and two other English men being then in the house, and said ha, boddaghs haue wee founds you, vpon which words this Examinat Answeered and said O Deere Daniell why soe what meane you, vpon which the said Daniell Replyed, and said that hee and those who were with him came for to kill those two men who were with her and her husband in the house whose names were Robertt Granger & Henery Heswickle, and an other man whose name was John Sayer that was a little before in the house but was then gone forth; This Examinat hearing him say soe did much and earnestly entreate for Robert Granger one of the said three, by reason hee <B> was her brother in law, but the said Daniell Roe said hee Dorst not but kill the said men for hee and the other two were hyred by one Sarah wyn Randall wife to one Redmond O Mallan, for forttie shills to kill the said men, And Immediatly, tooke forth of the house the said Robertt Granger and killed him, and came againe to the house, and this Examinat asked the said Daniell Roe where the said Robertt was that hee tooke forth with him, who Answeer’d they had killed him; but the Examinat said shee hoped they had not Done so, vpon which the said Daniell swoore hee had Done it, with that hand and shooke his hand, and with all shewed how hee brake his pichfork; and then tooke forth the, other called Henery Hessellwick and Killd him alsoe, and so went and found the third man called John Sayer some other wher and killed him also, The Examinat sayth likewise that the same tyme, shee and her husband left the house and as they were goeing they mett, the foresaid Sarah wyn Randalls brother in Law lying in the grasse, who did arrise vpp and asked them who they were or whether they did liue on that land, and, when they tould them no; hee bid them be gone; And the Examinat sayth shee heard after, that the said brother was sent to watch the said murtherers to see if they would performe the Deede they <were> heired to Doe, And further shee sayth not.
