My Lord
Some publicke occations draweing mee att this tyme hither I mett with your Lordships Order to one Mr Aykin for the apprehending of Collonel Myles McSwyne with others as Murtherers of his ffather Mr Aykins a Minister, and in regard some occurrences relateing to that matter are knowne vnto mee I thought my selfe obleidged to giue your Lordship an Accompt of my Knowledge In September 1652: I marched to suppresse the said McSwyne who was in Armes at that tyme in these parts & heareing some reports of the said Mr Aykins Murther I made inquiry into the Matter & Examined some Wittnesses Scotts (Protestants & such as lost some of theire nearest relations at that tyme by some of the Men in your Order mencioned) being some of them servants to Mr Aykin at the tyme of his death & Eye Witnesses of all that was done as Robert Dall Jenett Daugherty a Scotchwoman as I am informed & married to an Irish Man, her Daugher married to a Scotishman & one Greenehill who lost his Mother and Brother as is related with some others whose examinacions were taken by Sir George St. George at my request in regard I declined to entertaine any treaty much lesse to conclude any Articles with the said mc Swine vntill I were sattisfied whether he were guilty or no, & since his Articles were approued & further explanations added to them by the Right honorable the Commissioners of the Commonwealth of All which Examinations, Articles & explanations the Inclosed are Copies; This young Aykin liued a Souldier vnder Sir George St. George when these Examinations were taken & could not be ignorant of the businesse & was then sylent since which tyme he & his Mother (of whose abode at that tyme I could not learne any thing) haue sought vnto mc Swine for sattisfaccion which being denyed in that measure they demanded, they now prosecute him, after you haue as I am informed taken some money which their threats & his feares extracted from him (not guilty as I beleeue) Aykins Peticion is here inclosed, who being examined by vs confessed that in September last hee demanded the Money for his ffathers goods which being refused. he

he in January last informed against the said Mc Swine who hath lately writt to mee & I beleeue will offer himselfe to a tryall but is (I am informed) at present very sicke, And very probable will giue bonds to appeare when recouered if your Lordship please to allow of the same, his fidellitie since his submission in discouering Enemies & assisting our fforces vpon all occations which all the States Seruants imployed in there parts can & will testifie from whome I haue this will I hope perswade your Lordship to accept of Bayle which is all that is humbly offered in his behalfe by
