<6th december 1652> The Examinacion of Richard Roch of the Iland in the Barony of kinneley he sayth that he well knoweth of an assembly att <A> the begininge of the warrs att Bellengooly by the gentry of that Barony and Captain Sowgan whoe brought into the Barony of kinneley seaven or eight hundred men and that he was tould that all the gentlmen of that Barony was there with him but by what authority they soe assembled he knoweth not; vnelss it were by Sougans threatning of them with fyre and sword, and for what Acts and orders he never knew nor heard of any that was done by them, onely that a party of Sougans men made three dayes after Came to the Iland and there made theire braggs, that they had ye hanged three English men whose names he well knoweth not and that he heard they were hanged by the order of Captain Sowgan as he heard but for what he knoweth not, And ffurther sayth not.
