John Steele of the parish of Kilcomen and towne of Keenogh in the Barrony of Midooe weauer duely sworne saith, That at Keenogh aforesaid about Alhallowtide last past, he this deponent by the Rebels was robbd and dispoyled of his goods, meanes and liuely hood, as followeth vizt in Cowes & a horse to the value of 12 li. in household goods stuffe and the fruite of his garden about 10 li., besids his Interest of his house and garden dureing his wifes liue, worth xx s. per annum In wares and Comodities which this deponent was bringing vp to Dublin worth about 12 li., his loomes and tooles of his trade worth 5 li., by or by the meanes as this <A.> deponent is informed of Errall ffarrell sheriff of the said countie, who tooke this deponents Catle, and one Richard mc Robt, of the Bawne in the same Countie, whoe had one of his Cowes ashe is informed Bryan mc William of Ballingtobber in Comitat predicti gent, he tooke possession of diuers of this deponents goods and turned this deponent, his wife & child and prentice out of doors, and this deponents said wife and child and prentice are left destitute and left exposed to the will of the Rebels, And this deponent further saith, that at the same time he saw Rory mc Gerrald ffarrall who was at Keenogh aforesaid as Captaine or cheife of the Rebels and one Donnell <B> mc Kenny of the Laghell neere Keenogh take

spoile in the Towne amongst other Rebels, Hugh mc Keyne of Abbey Derrog neere Keenogh he took <C> this deponents loomes; And that the said Errall fferrall said that he had a Commission from the King to seaze all Englishmens goods, as the goods of Traitors, and that the English were proclaimd traitors. and that the King was in Scotland and would be in Ireland within 9 daies, and would banish all the English.
