The Examinacion of Luke Mariott of the Citty of Dublin gentleman taken before me Sir Gerrard Lowther knight Lord Chief Justice of his Maiesties Court of Common Pleas this 8th day of November 1641.
<T> This Examinant saith that he was borne att Arthang Arthingworth in Northamptonshire & that he hath liued eight or nine yeeres in this Kingdome most of which time he hath lived in this Citty of Dublin & was Agent for James Plunkett of Dunsaughlin Esquire & his father and that in this laste Expedicion into the North hee was he Lieutenant under the Comand of Captaine Audley Meruin and that he was now goeing for Spaine under the Command of Coronell <V> Barry And this Examinant denyeth that he had euer any Conference with the said william Apsley gentleman or any other concerning any Rebellion in the North nor did hee heare the said Apsley or any other of his Company wish that they were downe in the North to suppresse the Rebells nor did he wish [ ] that hee or did hee ever wish that hee or any of his Company were in the North with the Rebells [ ] or that hee would <W> doe any hurt to the protestants or said that hee would make them smoke or that they had money enough or that it were a good deede to cutt their throats or any other words to that or the like effect This examinant further deye denyeth that euer hee misbehaued himself towards the [plaintif?] or any other protestant a shipboard with him.
