The Examinacion of Nicholas Darcy of Platten Oxmonton Esquire taken before us Sir Richard Bolton knight Lord C Chancellor of Ireland & Sir Gerrard Lowther knight Lord Chief Justice of the Common Pleas this 8th day of November 1641.
<Q> This Examinant saith that yesternight himself & his sonne Edward together with Richard Birt of Tullagh & George Birt brother of the said Richard & a serua Oliver Darcy this Examinants seruant supped together at one Coopers house who keepeth a Taverne in at Oxmonton & that after supper about ten of the clocke this Examinant & the rest of his company came out of the said Taverne & goeing towards this Examinants howse in Oxmonton they passed along by the Centinell who bad them stande which they did untill the Corporall came & when hee came he conveyd them to this <R> Examinants howse & shortly after came the Captaine of the watch & the Constable with some other Company to this Examinants howse & demanded what company there was in the Howse whereto as this Examinant remembreth he answered that there were noe strangers & thereupon this Examinant caused the dore to be opened and the Captaine of the watch & the Constable came into the a lower roome of the howse & forth shortly after Richard Birt of Tullagh beeing <S> in an upper roome came downe the staires & offered to draw his sword half out to haue done some violence to the C a p taine of the watch but was & hauing drawne itt half out was hindered by this Examinant & the Constable but what words the said Birt used this Examinant doth not remember
