The Examinacion of Edmond Casy servant to William Sauage of Castlestreet dublin Baker taken before us Sir Richard Bolton knight Lord Chancellor of Ireland & Sir Gerrard Lowther knight Lord Chief Justice of his Maiesties Court of Chief Place this 17th of 9ber 1641.
This Examinant beeing duly sworne & examined upon his oath <E> saith that [ ] upon or about Monday last was fortnight one Cox a malster Bartholmew Lemm a n & George Hackett & others with with this Examinant were drinking in the howse of this Examinants said Master in Castlestreet where this Examinant heard the said Hackett say that if the Lords Justices would giue him meanes hee could raise two hundred men in the Birnes Countrey & would undertake to keepe all those parts of the Countrey in quiet because his wife was one of the chief of the Birnes & hee could haue all the <F> Birnes to follow him This Examinant further saith that the said Hackett drew a booke out of his pockett and read thereout some names which he said were the names of the principall Rebells And then this Examinant went out about his busines & heard noe more of theire discourse
