The Examinacion of William Cox of Newstreete Dublin Malster taken before us Sir Richard Bolton Knight Lord Chancellor of Ireland & Sir Gerrard Lowther Knight Lord Chief Justice of the Capt Common Pleas the 19th day of 9ber 1641.
<S> Who beeing duly sworne & examined upon his oath sayth that that upon All Saints day about 9 or 10 of the clocke in the morning this Examinant came to the howse of William Savage of Castlestreete Baker & there found George Hackett & the said Savage & his wife drinking together this Examinant hauing in his company Bartholomew Lemman a Taylor & the Goodwife of the howse desired the said Lemman & this Examinant to sitt downe because there was none there but a gentleman a friend of hers And thereupon the said Lemman & this Examinant sate downe & this Examinant called for a quart of Ale & in in drinking of Ale together they <T> fell in discourse of the Rebells whereupon the said Geroge Hackett pulled out of his pockett an Almanacke & said hee could shew them the names of some of the principall Rebells & read unto them diuerse Irish names which hee this Examinant now remembreth not & after drinkeing of an other quart of Ale the said Hackett said that the King was the biggest & greatest man in this busines vn vpon speakeing of which words the said Lemman went away and they had noe further discourse amongst them but brake up company.
