The Examinacion of Dauid Powell taken before sir John Temple knight Dec: 14. 1641
<J> Dauid Powell one of the Inhabitants of Clantarfe saith that a barke belonging to philip Norrice of Leuerpoole run a ground neare Clantarfe on the 11 of Dec: that some dwellers of Rahenny to the number of 14 came and pillaged the said barque and tooke away all the best commodities that were then in her, and that when a du one Euers and a miller came to helpe to saue the goods thay fell upon them and a l wounded the miller to death and caused Euers for feare of loosing his life to turne papist. On the 14 of Dec: the Inhabitants <K> of Clantarfe cheifely the fishermen came and tooke away out of the said barke such coales and salt and cheese and ropes as were left in the said barke and caried them to there houses:
He saith further FitsSimmons of Rahenny gent was amonge those of Rahenny that pillaged the barque all night
<L> He saith further that there came some of the Rebells on the 12 of Dec: to Clantarfe and that thay came to the house of this examinat finding no other English in the towne and rifled all he had and said thay would sett fire on his house if he would not leaue it and that thay would not leaue an English man dwelling upon the land. Thay said thay would goe from thence to Hoath.
