the xxth Januarij 1641:
Thomas Smithe of ffinglasse in the Countie of Dublin mals{ter} <Q> duelie sworne & examined by vertue of his oath saith that si{nce} the time of this presente Rebellion (vizt) that vpon the 14th of de{cember} last was taken from this deponent by the Rebells in ffinglasse & th{ere} abouts 40: barrelles of bare malte some dried & some vndried worth 15 s. a barrell by Lawrence Roane & James Longe of Abotestowne: Also the same time was taken from this deponent 4 cowes worth 3 li. a peece by the said Rebelles: Also the same time was taken from this deponent one nagge woorthe 4 li. by the said Rebe{ls} also one sowe worth 14 s. And Richard Martine one of the Rebelles wold have killed this deponent.
All which Losses doe amounte vnto: 46 li. 14 s.
<R> Also this deponent did hold from Richard Longe of Abotestowne in the Com of Dubline five houses in ffinglasse & gave him for a fine for the said houses 9 li. & did build 3: of them & was to payd him: 6 li. ster: yearlie for 20: yeares: yet vnexpired
Also this deponent did hold from mr Ball of ballegall: 4: houses in ffinglasse & gave for a fine for the said houses 11 li. & was to payd xx s. y{earlie} for 16: years yett vnexpired out of which houses this deponent d{ id? } was to Receyve by meanes of his fine & building 4 li. yearlie besides t{he} Lords Rente all which houses were burned:
The benefitte of all which this deponent hath vtterlie lost
<S> And the sayd Tho: Smith further sayth vpon his oath th{at} Rich: Long of Abotstowne and frind of Dunnsinck {are} both gonn from their dwelling places and have le{ft} greate store of corne and graine of all sorts {in?} theire Haygarths, and as it is generally sayd a{re} with the rebells
