The Examinacion of Thomas Saer of Ballmadon yeoman in the County of Dublin taken before one Sir William Ryves knighte, one of his Maiesties Justices of his Courte of Kings Bench the 29th day of January Anno domino 1641
<K> The said Examinante, being sworne vppon the holy Evangelist, & duely examined before me deposeth that, the deponent, being Richard Reade, Richard McGarry Thomas Dalton & Roberte Saer, all of Ballmadon, being ymploied by Roberte Preston of Ballmadon esquire, to sell his Corne in the markett of dublin, & haveing theare sould the said Corne, as they weare this present day Retorneing home from the said markett weare assalted & sett vn vpon by one Thomas scanlan of Corbally Late driver to Anthony Dopping esquire, Richine (Late Cow= <L> heard to the said Anthony) of Corbally Richard Mounton, of Barbieston & one owen a Lat Labourer, who Lyeth liveth, in the Bater, betweene Corbally & Collinston & two others in theire Company whose names the deponent knoweth not, being all of them armed with halfe pikes & one of them had a skeine, in a warlike manner, and att Sturminston in the said County this present day all the said persons Rebelliously assalted the deponent & the Rest and first of all the said scanlan struck the deponents horse in his forehead with a halfe pike, whearwith the said horse turneing back. the said scanlan <M> discouering the deponent, to bee one that knew him hee left the deponent and thearvppon the deponent was pulled of his horse by the other two whome hee knoweth not, being in Company with the said scanlan & the Rest, who tooke from the deponent fowre pownd fifteene shillings & struke him with seuerall blowes with a skeine, and the said Skanlan, Richine, Mounteine, & owen, then & theare pulled the Rest of the deponents Company of theire
